Frequently Asked Questions :: Connecting a PC to a new type Garmin GPS

Connecting a PC to a new type Garmin GPS

First make sure you have Memory-Map ver 5.4.2 or later installed on your PC. In your Memory-Map software see Web > Check for updates.

For the transfer of Overlay data (routes, marks, tracks, etc.) between PC and GPS

The GPS should be set to: Setup > System > interface > Garmin Spanner (some units do not have an interface option in which case, disregard this step)

Plug the USB cable into the PC and the Garmin and accept the "Mass Storage" option on the Garmin

In Memory-Map the GPS setup should be Manufacturer=Garmin, Model=USB

Using the Garmin to provide positional data to Memory-Map on the PC

The same as above but when asked to accept the "Mass Storage" option on the Garmin... say NO
