Use of your licensed maps is still possible. You can still send your maps to the device using the iTunes system. You can also purchase new licenses through the PC or Android platforms and activate those licenses on the iPhone / iPad.
Another major change is that the maps are no longer stored in main storage of the device. The maps are stored in cache (so they do not "clog" the iCloud system). This means they are not backed up and the system may (if it is running low on memory) clear the cache (and the maps) to make room in memory. To ensure your maps remain on the device, it is important to maintain some "cushion" of memory on your iPhone / iPad.
We are working to enhance the app and account for these issues, but are somewhat at the mercy of Apple with regard to what they will allow us to do.
