How to install map and chart updates

This article explains how to install and buy the updates, as well as remove the old maps or charts from your device.

First install the maps. - Only then will you be offered the discounted buy price

How to install the update:

Simply follow the links for package download on the relevant web page. E.G:
Prices:
  • In most cases there is a significant discount for existing users updating to the revised edition - and in some cases the update is free. To discover the price, simply explore the buy option on the relevant web page.

How to Buy:
  • To be presented with the discounted buy option you must have first installed the new map set to one of your devices.
  • Then you can buy through the in-app prompts (except on an iOS device) or sign in here and select the Buy Licenses button.
How to remove the old map set:

When you download the new set of maps or charts to your device you will quite likely find that you have duplications in the map lists for old and new.

In the Mobile Apps, tap the Maps button on the toolbar/menu, then More Maps, then Delete Duplicate Maps.

You may find that some revised maps may not be recognised as duplications or redundant. There is unlikely to be too many of these, so they are easily deleted from the Map List one at a time. (On the Mobile apps, select the blue button next to the map name on the map List)

Alternative methods for deleting map files:

On the PC:

The default storage location is on the C:\Drive under the Maps folder (C:\Maps\DMS\....).

Open the File manager:
  • Windows 7 - Start > Computer
  • Windows 8 & 10 - Start > File Explorer
Navigate to C:\Maps and find the relevant map folder. It should be quite obvious as shown in the example below.

Either delete the map folder completely or remove it to a backup location.

As always, after any alterations to the map files, you will need to refresh the map list.

On an Android device:

To delete map files, you can either use a file manager app or connect the Android device to your PC and use the Windows File Explorer in a similar way as the above.

Navigate to the Device storage \Downloads\Memory-Map\DMS\ and find the relevant map folder. It should be quite obvious as shown in the example below.
Either delete the map folder completely or remove it to a backup location.

On an iPhone or iPad:

To delete map files, if you used File Sharing in iTunes to load the maps, then its simply a case of deleting the maps from the file sharing section in iTunes, and then syncing the device. General info on this subject is available here

As a last resort, deleting and re-installing the app will remove all map data. We recomend you update to the latest version of the app and run it at least once before deleting the app.
